Ports around the world are facing with difficult challenges including rapid growth of freight volumes, increased demand for mineral resources, remoteness of these resources, and the increasing role of ports in global supply chain management. In order to scope with these challenges, brown field ports around the world need to revisit their capacities, production efficiencies and service offerings, and in some instances, Greenfield ports need to be developed to meet the growing demand.
